Local El Paso County authorities made a significant arrest on Tuesday, bagging a name from their Most Wanted list. Armando Alvarado, age 44, found himself in handcuffs after deputies from the East Montana Patrol Station of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPCSO) conducted an operation that resulted in his capture. According to El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte, Alvarado was wanted on multiple felony warrants.
The arrest didn't come easily, as Alvarado barricaded himself inside a residence, presenting a likely hazardous scenario both for himself and the law enforcement involved. Deputies faced a tense standoff after the fugitive threatened them, but through tactical de-escalation techniques, they managed to peacefully convince him to surrender. This incident did, however, add to Alvarado's list of charges, which now includes Obstruction or Retaliation and Terroristic Threat Against a Peace Officer. His bond has been set at $47,500.
EPCSO's commitment to apprehending fugitives and ensuring the community's safety was reiterated in Ugarte's post on social media. The sheriff expressed pride in his deputies' ability to bring a potentially explosive situation to a controlled and bloodless resolution. "He now faces additional charges, including Obstruction or Retaliation and Terroristic Threat Against a Peace Officer," as noted by El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte.
