Spring marks not just a rebirth of flora across El Paso, but also the onset of a new academic year for students and parents alike, Diana Sayavedra, of El Paso Independent School District, announced that registration for the 2025-26 school term begins April 1, an event she paired with the reveal that six local schools distinguished themselves on the Texas Honor Roll, according to El Paso ISD.

"Whether your child is starting Pre-K, transitioning to a new grade level, or joining El Paso ISD for the first time, we are excited to welcome them with exceptional academic programs, innovative learning opportunities, and a supportive environment," Carved from a larger message by Sayavedra, these words intend to usher in a fresh cohort of learners to a district basking in the acclaim of Silva Health Magnet, Transmountain Early College High School, Hornedo Middle School, Milam Elementary, Polk Elementary, and William C. Herrera Elementary's outstanding achievements and focus on closing achievement gaps, "I am incredibly proud of the dedication and hard work of our students, teachers, and staff who continue to elevate El Paso ISD as a leader in education," she adds, as per El Paso ISD, trumpeting the effort that hoisted these institutions into the premier 12% of schools honored statewide.

Further adding to the district's string of successes are Shaheli De Silva and Emiliano Ferran Martinez, scholars from Young Women's STEAM Prep Academy and Wiggs Middle School, who clinched the top spot for the second year running in the El Paso ISD Spanish Spelling Bee, a win that now sends them to compete regionally, Isaac Diaz, of Paul Moreno Elementary, took pride of place as a close runner-up in the linguistically challenging event.

The path to higher education is also being paved with assistance as El Paso ISD Education Foundation opens its coffers for scholarships for the soon-to-be graduates, "This scholarship, which awards up to $5,000, recognizes students for their academic achievements, leadership, and community involvement," iterated Sayavedra, as obtained by El Paso ISD, encouraging seniors to apply by the upcoming April 4 deadline, for a chance to ease their financial passage to universities, community colleges, and trade schools.
