
An 82-year-old woman tragically lost her life in a house fire on Sunday, March 2 in northern Gaston County. The fire, which is said to have started in the living room and possibly involved a space heater and combustible items, was under control by 7:30 p.m., according to WBTV report.
When firefighters arrived at the home on Alexis High Shoals Road, they were met with flames engulfing over 75 percent of the structure, their efforts to quell the blaze were swift but the tragedy had already unfolded, a family member suffered minor injuries in a valiant attempt to save the elderly woman according to the details shared by officials. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
