An alarming incident unfolded at the Elyria Police Station when a man identified as Daniel Carrillo entered the building with the expressed intention of killing a police officer before turning his aggression on an unsuspecting woman in the lobby. FOX8 reported that the altercation occurred around 2:30 p.m. Monday, with officers responding promptly, separating the assailant from the victim and placing him under arrest.
Details from the law enforcement narrative obtained by WKYC reveal that Carrillo, a resident of Elyria, had smoked marijuana before arriving at the police department and had opted to assault the woman after he could not locate an officer. He also mentioned a daunting intention to commit a similar act should he be released.
Elyria Police Captain Bill Lantz recognized the officers’ quick intervention, stating, “Thanks to their immediate intervention, the suspect, Daniel Carrillo, was quickly subdued and taken into custody without further harm to the victim or others present," he told WKYC, "I want to commend the responding officers for their rapid response and decisive actions in preventing further violence. Their professionalism and commitment to public safety were evident in how they handled this situation." Carrillo now faces multiple charges, including felonious assault, strangulation, and disorderly conduct while intoxicated, as per the report from Cleveland19 News. He remains in custody at the Lorain County Jail.
