A tragic incident unfolded yesterday at Reseda Park in Tarzana as the Los Angeles Fire Department reported a fatal drowning. According to the LAFD alert, firefighters were dispatched at 1:12 P.M. following reports of an adult male seen walking into the lake and failing to resurface. Despite a swift response and the deployment of firefighters/paramedics, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The ordeal commenced at 6388 N Etiwanda Avenue, where bystanders witnessed the distressing event, observing the man enter the water and subsequently vanish beneath the surface with the effort of the rescuers who raced against time and pull the patient from the depths of the lake endeavoring fervently to reverse the grips of mortality, their endeavors were met with the solemn reality of a life not able to be saved. The identity of the victim has not been released, with further inquiries being directed to the LAPD and the LA County Department of Medical Examiner.
Margaret Stewart, a spokesperson for the LAFD, released a brief statement in which the circumstances of the incident were recounted. Fire Station 93, along with Battalion 17 and other emergency medical teams, were listed as the primary units responding to the incident, which tragically ended with one fatality. The LAPD is currently investigating the events leading up to this incident and has been assigned report number 2585.
