The Town of Fountain Hills has recently announced a significant shift in its law enforcement leadership, with Captain Larry Kratzer stepping down from overseeing the Fountain Hills District of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO). According to an official statement released on the Town's website, Captain Kratzer, who has maintained the district's safety record over the past six years, is moving within MCSO to embrace new challenges in the Judicial Enforcement Division.

"There are so many things about working in the Town that I'm going to miss, but nothing more than the people," Captain Kratzer told the Town’s official portal. His contributions have helped keep Fountain Hills ranking among the safest communities in the state. The Town Manager, Rachael Goodwin, expressed her gratitude, saying, "I want to thank Captain Kratzer for his terrific service to our community and congratulate him on his new role within MCSO." The transition process has been set to smoothly introduce Captain Kratzer’s successor.

Stepping into the role is Captain Kevin Thomas, a veteran of MCSO since 1999, whose extensive experience spans across general crimes, the Special Investigations Division, and work with state and federal task forces. Captain Thomas is ready to develop strong connections with the people of Fountain Hills rapidly and ensure the safety of the community. "I am thrilled to join the Fountain Hills community and look forward to connecting with residents and helping keep this a premier and safe destination to live, work and visit," said Captain Thomas, in anticipation of his new position.

Recognizing the importance of the community-law enforcement bond, Captain Thomas plans to further nurture these relationships. He aims to seamlessly integrate into the town's fabric and to not only become a part of it but to also make a significant contribution. With the official handoff taking place on March 3rd, the town welcomes this new chapter in their public safety narrative.
