A tragic car accident in Orange County claimed the lives of four individuals and left one with serious injuries late Saturday, authorities reported. Florida Highway Patrol disclosed that the collision occurred on the Central Florida Parkway when a 2024 BMW M2, driven by a 26-year-old Orlando man, attempted to overtake a 2024 Toyota Camry. The driver of the Camry, a 20-year-old Kissimmee man, and his passengers were also eastbound at the time of the incident around 10:52 p.m. east of Whitley Place, as detailed in a ClickOrlando report.
The overtaking maneuver resulted tragically when, attempting to merge back into the outside lane, the BMW struck the Camry's front left side. The subsequent loss of control led to both vehicles departing the roadway. The Camry first struck a light pole and then collided with multiple trees, as mentioned by WFTV. During the accident, the BMW also crashed into several trees after running offroad, which left the vehicle's occupants deceased.
Fatalities included all occupants of the BMW and two out of three individuals in the Toyota Camry. Florida Highway Patrol stated that the rear passenger in the Camry, an 18-year-old Windermere man, was the only crash participant not wearing a seat belt; he was ejected from the vehicle and died from his injuries. The driver of the BMW and his 23-year-old female passenger, both from Orlando, were pronounced dead at the scene, while the front passenger of the Camry was declared dead upon arriving at the hospital. The permanent identity of one of the deceased has yet to be determined.
The sole survivor, the Camry driver, suffered severe injuries and is currently receiving medical attention at Dr. Phillips Hospital. According to WFTV, the official investigation led by the FHP into the cause and details of this fatal crash continues.
