If you find yourself in Downtown Minneapolis looking for an excuse to get out of the house, look no further. A trio of community events are promising to bring some easy-going enjoyment and local flair to the area's parks this week. And hey, they're free—so your wallet can take a breather, too.
Kicking off the fun, Water Works is hosting a s'mores galore event on Saturday, March 22, from 2 to 6 p.m. The Downtown Minneapolis Neighborhood Association has stepped up to quickly ensure that you can roast marshmallows 'til your heart's content, while Owamni's tea bar will be open to satisfy your drink desires—but bring some cash because beverages are not on the house.
Come Sunday, March 23, from 3-6 p.m., it's time to strap on your dancing shoes. Mactír Academy of Irish Dance invites people of all ages and skill levels to partake in an intro to Irish dancing at Whimsical Skedaddling. Whether you're still buzzing from St. Patrick's Day or simply to quickly learn a jig, Mactír, led by Emily Wolff since 2013, promises an energetic lesson in precision and grace.
And for those with a comedic twist, Nicollet Island Pavilion has got your back on Tuesday, March 25. "Cards Against Boredom" offers a lively night of Cards Against Humanity, paired with laughter and the chance to mingle with a refreshing mix of folks. Mintahoe will be on-site to quench your thirst and kill hunger pangs with their selection of snacks and beverages for purchase. Doors swing open at 5:30 p.m., with the game running from 6 p.m. "ish" to 8 p.m., according to Your Downtown Minneapolis Parks.
So, there you have it. Whether it's outdoor treats, cultural dancing, or a dose of risqué humor you're after, it seems Downtown Parks is the rendezvous point for some casual elation. Remember, all events are gratis—just show up with your best spirits, and perhaps be ready to part with a couple of bucks for a specialty tea or a cold beverage. See you in the parks!
