The City of Germantown has approved a boundary adjustment along Winchester Road following coordination with the Town of Collierville. The change, approved by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen, places a previously unclaimed area under Germantown's jurisdiction to improve municipal service delivery, according to the City of Germantown.
The city is expanding its boundaries to include a 610-foot by 120-foot area near Winchester Road, which contains a 12-inch water line previously managed by Collierville. The line serves as an emergency connection between Collierville, Memphis Light, Gas and Water, and Germantown. As part of the expansion, Germantown will install a new valve at the updated city border to maintain the connection. The City of Germantown stated, "This change will benefit Germantown by officially including infrastructure that serves current and future residents along Winchester Road."
On Tuesday, Germantown approved Resolution 25R05 to expand its boundaries and improve municipal services in an area previously managed by Shelby County. The expansion includes installing a new valve, which city leaders described as, "The small cost of installing the new valve is well worth the long-term benefits of clearer municipal management and better service for residents." Germantown is working with Collierville to ensure both towns maintain reliable services, as reported by the City of Germantown.
