Germantown's Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved a plan during their meeting on Monday to upgrade the police department's technology. The plan includes replacing the current electronic citation equipment with a new system from Tyler Technologies, Inc., aimed at improving efficiency and modernizing the department’s tools, according to the City of Germantown.

The City of Germantown will spend $91,380 on a new electronic citation system from Tyler Technologies, Inc. The new equipment aims to streamline citation issuance, reduce paperwork, and improve communication with court systems. The funds for the purchase come from revenue generated through traffic violation fines.

The City of Germantown has received a $35,711 donation from the Memphis/Shelby County Law Enforcement Foundation. The funds will be used to purchase two Axon SKY-HERO unmanned aircraft systems for interior use in high-risk situations such as hostage or active shooter incidents. The drones will provide real-time data to assist in crisis response and improve officer safety.
