The civic fabric of Goodyear, Arizona, is strengthened once more as Vice Mayor Wally Campbell secures another term on the National League of Cities (NLC) committee and councils. According to an announcement from the City of Goodyear, Campbell has been reappointed to the 2025 Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee, First Tier Suburbs Council, and Military Community Council.
With her latest appointment, Vice Mayor Campbell will continue her decade-plus service since 2011, working towards advancing policies that protect the interests of her constituents in Arizona. In a statement made by the City of Goodyear, she remarked confidently, "Appointment to these councils and committee is an honor," while also reflecting on past accomplishments, highlighting the $650,000 grant for Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) obtained for the city. Engaged in previous terms, her work has manifested in tangible benefits for Goodyear.
As a council and committee member, Campbell is set to play a key role within a diverse group of local leaders. They are tasked with the important work of encouraging collaboration, sharing resources, and developing programs that resonate with communities sharing demographics, size, or location. The hope is to create models that can be replicated across the nation, improving the larger tapestry of urban living.
The importance of these federal advocacy committees was underscored by NLC President Steve Patterson, Mayor of Athens, Ohio. "NLC’s federal advocacy committees are vital for uplifting the voices and needs of America’s 19,000 cities, towns, and villages to decision-makers in Washington," he told the City of Goodyear. This strategic appointment positions Vice Mayor Campbell at the heart of endeavors that will not only bolster Goodyear's infrastructure but also fortify her status as a guiding force between local and federal leadership.
