To aid the affected communities, he requested a disaster declaration from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), according to a recent announcement obtained by the Office of the Texas Governor. This measure aims to secure low-interest disaster loans for residents and business owners in San Patricio County and the surrounding counties to rebuild what the flames torched.
In the wake of this destructive fire, an analysis undertaken by state, local, and federal officials concluded that San Patricio County meets the requirements for SBA assistance. Impacted Texans provided information on damages through self-reporting via the Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool (iSTAT) surveys. In a display that Governor Abbott's request echoes recovery efforts, he stated, "The resiliency of South Texans is on full display as recovery efforts continue in the aftermath of the Welder Fire."
