A former student at the Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology has been arrested on felony charges for allegedly taking inappropriate photos in a girls' restroom. Hongming Mo, 17, faces charges of unlawful eavesdropping or surveillance after reports indicated he entered the restroom multiple times since October 2024 to capture images, as FOX 5 Atlanta reported.

School Principal Logan Malm informed parents in a letter that the school responded quickly upon learning of the incident. He explained that the school immediately contacted the resource officer, implemented disciplinary actions, and collaborated with law enforcement. Malm also highlighted the strength of the school's security measures and the involvement of the community in addressing the issue.

Malm also said, "This type of behavior is both a violation of our student conduct code and against the law, and it will never be tolerated at GSMST," as noted by FOX 5 Atlanta. The principal thanked the student who reported the incident, enabling the school and police to act quickly. Details about the surveillance and the fate of the images remain unclear.

Chloe Shay, whose son is a 10th grader at the school, told FOX 5 Atlanta, "First impression was shocked. Unbelievable that could happen in this school."

Mo was granted a $5,000 bond, according to Atlanta News First.

The school has encouraged continued vigilance, reminding students and parents to report suspicious behavior through the GCPS Tips app or other platforms. The school is also offering support from its counselors for those needing assistance.
