The Healdsburg Police Department apprehended Damian Martines-Osorio yesterday following a violent incident that occurred at the Healdsburg Community Center a week prior. Martines-Osorio, 29, was arrested on charges of attempted murder, vandalism, and resisting arrest after an extensive investigation led officers to Los Gatos, as reported in a social media post from the Healdsburg Police Department.
The suspect, who was living under an alias after allegedly fleeing Healdsburg, attempted to elude capture by running from the authorities when approached. He was ultimately taken into custody after trying to scale a fence. The department stated that he had been booked into the Sonoma County Jail and was held without bail. This pertains not only to the current charges but also to three other outstanding warrants.
Previously, the Healdsburg Police Department had issued a search for Martinez Osorio in connection to a knife attack in the community center's parking lot. The victim, after confronting Martinez Osorio for slashing tires, sustained a hand injury in a subsequent struggle, according to an article posted on Hoodline. The suspect reportedly fled into a nearby creek bed following the altercation.
Law enforcement's attempts to locate Martinez Osorio after the incident were exhaustive, involving a three-hour search with support from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office and CHP's helicopter. He was described as a fugitive, with the Healdsburg Police Department urging the public to be vigilant and to report any information that could lead to his apprehension. Despite these efforts, it was the sustained investigative work of Healdsburg officers, with support from Los Gatos, that eventually led to the arrest and brought the alleged assailant into custody.
