
A hiker got into a dangerous situation near Mililani Mauka, but thanks to the quick response of the Honolulu Fire Department, she is now safe. On March 16, a 911 call came in at 9:07 a.m., leading to the deployment of 5 units and 13 responders. They arrived by 9:21 a.m., set up a landing zone, and conducted an aerial rescue, according to the Honolulu Fire Department.
A woman in her 40s went hiking from Schofield the day before but got lost and couldn’t find her way down the trail. Using the coordinates from her 911 call, Air 1, the Honolulu Fire Department’s helicopter unit, located her. Rescue teams were then sent to help her.
When rescuers reached her, a full medical check confirmed the hiker was unharmed after her unexpected time in the wilderness. With her safety assured, she was safely lifted out at 10:02 a.m., ending what could have been a dangerous situation, as per the Honolulu Fire Department.
