Today's high winds are not to be taken lightly, with advisories noting southwest winds ranging from 15 to 25 mph and gusts that could hit 40 mph, these conditions are expected to persist until 7 PM EST, raising concerns about unsecured objects and the risk of downed tree limbs and subsequent power outages, it's a windy scenario that demands attention and caution, especially for those in high-profile vehicles. Beyond the blustery conditions, a severe thunderstorm watch is also in place until 10 AM EST for numerous Florida counties including Baker and Duval, as the weather service warns of the chance for powerful storms early in the day.
The storm system plunging Jacksonville into a bout of tempestuous weather is also delivering a notable plunge in temperatures, the area can anticipate a dip following the cold front, with the evening's lows forecasted to drop to around 46 degrees, a sharp contrast to the day's earlier high of 79 degrees, and it's a chill that will carry through until at least Thursday night. Looking ahead, the detailed forecast suggests a sunny respite is on the horizon for Friday, with a high near 73 degrees and calmer winds, before rainfall chances creep back into the picture for the weekend.
