Jacksonville's disabled entrepreneurs are about to get a significant boost, thanks to a new initiative from the city's Disabled Services Division and the Jacksonville Small and Emerging Business (JSEB) team. The "Empowering Entrepreneurs with Disabilities" program, is set to offer a range of support mechanisms including workshops, mentorship, and networking opportunities - all structured to help individuals with disabilities forge their paths in the business world.
The initiative, which is still open for enrollment, features an eight-week program that will unfold at the city's public library. Interested participants are encouraged to sign up for tomorrow's information session, slated to run from 6:00 to 7:30pm. According to a post from the City of Jacksonville, Florida - Government, the program aims to provide "essential strategies for starting and growing your own business," along with the unique opportunity for one-on-one guidance from experienced entrepreneurs with disabilities.
The program's framework is designed to facilitate the cultivation of a professional network, connecting participants with partners, investors, and potential customers. Moreover, the initiative understands the practical needs of its audience, providing resources in Braille, large print, and screen reader-compatible formats for those who require them.
As part of the comprehensive support system, participants will also work on developing their individual action plans, ensuring that they leave the program with "an actionable business plan tailored to your unique needs and abilities," as mentioned on the City of Jacksonville, Florida - Government. Interested individuals are encouraged to secure their place immediately by contacting 904.255.5466 or via email at [email protected].
