A chilling weekend incident in Arlington has led to the swift arrest of a man now charged with murder. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) responded to a reported stabbing at an apartment complex off the Arlington Expressway early Sunday morning. In a social media post, JSO shared how officers discovered 38-year-old Carlos Yordanis Aldana wounded outside the complex. Aldana had sustained injuries to his left hand and shin and was subsequently transported to a local hospital.
An investigation was triggered after officers followed a blood trail from Aldana to an apartment within the complex. Inside, they encountered an even more harrowing sight: the body of 30-year-old Yannelis De La Caridad Casales Anton, who had suffered multiple stab wounds and died at the scene. Detectives determined the incident a domestic in nature after speaking with witnesses and collecting evidence.
The prompt actions of the JSO Homicide detectives led to the arrest of Aldana. As per their report, he was taken from the hospital to the Duval County jail, where he remains incarcerated with charges of murder pending against him.
While the investigation continues, the JSO's quick response in this instance brought a resolution to a grisly scene and has provided a starting point for seeking justice for the victim. Aldana's case will move forward through the legal system as he awaits his day in court.
