The City of Kannapolis Fire Department recently expanded its team with three new firefighters, following their formal induction at the Swanee Theatre. According to a statement released by the City of Kannapolis, the ceremony was a family affair, with relatives and current fire department personnel there to witness the swearing-in and pinning of badges for Jacob Collins, Tyler Hayes, and Jason Tighe.
Jacob Collins arrives with a solid record, having already put in six years at the China Grove Fire Department. His next chapter unfolds at Station 5, where he will urgently start to serve aboard Engine 51. Collins, the progeny of Jeremy and Shanna Collins, appears to be following a noble lineage into the fire services.
Tyler Hayes, an import from New Jersey, laid his roots in North Carolina half a decade ago and will continue his firefighting career on Engine 31 at Station 3. With the big shift from the Garden State under his belt, Hayes is likely acclimated now to Kannapolis’ unique demands and community spirit.
Jason Tighe, also originally hailing from New Jersey, has similarly chosen to call North Carolina home. A family man, Tighe has two children with his wife and plans to now faithfully protect his adopted community from Station 4's Engine 41.
