Darrick Ashley Grider, 44, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison without parole for aggravated burglary in Knoxville, TN. Grider was prosecuted by the Career Gang Unit and convicted of breaking into his cousin's home and committing theft, as reported by the District Attorney General.
A one-day trial in January found Grider guilty of burglary. Prosecutors presented testimony and forensic evidence linking him to the crime. On August 8, 2022, officers responded to a home off Western Avenue, where the victim reported that her cousin, Grider, had entered, ransacked the kitchen, and stolen money. The Knox County Sheriff's Office confirmed his involvement through fingerprint analysis. DA Allen stated, "This repeat offender will now be off our streets for many years to come," as stated by the District Attorney General.
According to the District Attorney General on their Facebook page, the Knox County Sheriff's Office responded to a burglary call, with Officer Charles Kuykendall handling the initial report. Assistant Victim Witness Coordinator Sheri Burkett and Legal Secretary Cathleen Wilson assisted in the prosecution. Grider, who had nine prior felony convictions, including three for Aggravated Burglary, received the maximum sentence. Judge Scott Green ordered the sentence to be served in full without parole.
