Lake Havasu City will upgrade Rotary Community Park with a $969,750 grant from Arizona State Parks and Trails. Funded by the State Lake Improvement Fund, the project will focus on accessibility improvements for residents and visitors, according to the Lake Havasu City.
The renovation includes rebuilding two northern parking lots, installing a new restroom, widening sidewalks, and replacing buoys. Additional improvements include new shade structures, outdoor showers, and seating areas. Mobi-mats will be installed to create a stable path for wheelchairs and non-motorized vehicles across the sand to the water's edge, as reported by the Lake Havasu City.
The city’s grants division plans to improve accessibility at Rotary Beach’s northern parking areas. Grants Manager Vijette Saari stated, "This grant will allow us to improve the northern parking areas of Rotary Beach. We’re excited to enhance mobility for individuals with disabilities, families with strollers, and all community members who want to enjoy our recreational spaces." The project is awaiting cultural review approval from Arizona State Parks and Trails and is expected to begin in the coming months, as stated by the Lake Havasu City.
