
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced the arrest of two suspects involved in a fraudulent job scam. As reported by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in a press release on Friday, 41-year-old Juan Vera and 39-year-old Fabiola Llanes were taken into custody by the Chicago Police Department on Thursday, in connection with a disturbance reported earlier this year on January 30.
According to officials, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department began the investigation after receiving reports of a disturbance in front of a business on the 3100 block of East Sunset Road, where individuals claimed to have been duped by an online job advertisement. The dubious offer, as it turned out, was for a third-party delivery service and required applicants to pay a fee upfront for processing their application. Following the payment, a future interview date was provided but when hopeful applicants returned for follow-up, they found the premise vacated,
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Financial Crimes detectives took over the investigation and soon identified Vera and Llanes as the suspects. In a media brief by Lieutenant Erik Perkett, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department detailed the extent of the operation and urged anyone who might have fallen victim to this scam or had information on the incident to come forward.
The arrested duo is currently awaiting extradition to Las Vegas, where they will face charges related to the scheme. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has provided contact information for those affected to report similar experiences and seek assistance.
