Mardi Gras 2025 has come to a close, and with its ending comes a note of gratitude towards the law enforcement officers who dedicated their time to ensuring the event's safety. Among these officers was SBSO Deputy Chief John Doran who, alongside his fellow deputies, finished their stint of support during the carnival's final day in partnership with the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).
The celebratory season saw Sheriff James Pohlmann's team work in concert with various agencies from across Louisiana. A sense of pride was conveyed by the Sheriff’s office; one of validation not simply for the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office (SBSO) but for the collective efforts of law enforcement ensuring a safe passage of this year's festivities. Capt. Edward Sieja, a K9 handler from the Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office, was also among the law enforcement personnel acknowledged for his role in securing the event, as reported by the SBSO on their official website.
The collaborative focus extended beyond just patrolling the streets, encompassing crowd control, incident response and maintaining the general order required to host such a large public event successfully. Acknowledgment of the coordinated effort was perceptible as the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office publicly expressed their thanks, saying, "Thank you to everyone who helped protect and serve this Mardi Gras season!" This statement encapsulates the sentiment of mutual respect among the departments and appreciation for the shared commitment to public service.
