The Lewisville Public Library is hosting an array of events that cater to game enthusiasts and teens seeking monetary wisdom. Located at 1197 W. Main Street, the library is a hub of activity. Its doors are open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., though it remains closed on Sundays.
The recent "Ready, Set, Game! Tabletop Gaming" event, held in the Glenmore Savage Community Room last Saturday, offered many board, card, and dexterity games to a mixed audience of all ages. With no registration required, participants could drop by any time between noon and 4 p.m., according to the City of Lewisville's announcement. Both classic games like Scrabble and newer ones like Kingdomino were on the tables, and the community room welcomed children aged six and above, provided they had a supervising adult with them.
Another notable initiative by the library is geared toward teens and their guardians. The "Money Talks for Teens" session on April 1st aims to enlighten attendees on financial fundamentals, such as the distinctions between debit and credit cards and the importance of credit scores. Per the library's press release, this educational hour, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., will also feature the chance to win a door prize and requires prior registration.
For teens who prefer gaming over learning about finances, "Teen After-Hours Game Night" is poised to be a hit. Slated for the post-closure hours of April 4th, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., this event lets teens take over the Bennett Children's Wing to indulge in board and Nintendo Switch games. The requisite registration and permission slips can be picked up at the Youth Services Desk or found online, and the bonus of light snacks is detailed on the library's website. It's an evening where teens can freely mingle, challenge each other, and potentially make new friends over shared passions for gaming.
