The string of burglaries that haunted the commercial heart of Lithia, Florida has reached a turning point with the arrest of two individuals. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, a methodical investigation led to the apprehension of Matthew Pierson, 34, and Jonathan Gray, 33, both suspected of playing a part in the thefts of various business establishments in the area.

The deputies' attention was first drawn to a burglary on February 20, at Pinch A Penny, where a surveillance tape captured a Nissan Pathfinder acting suspiciously nearby. Not long after, on Monday, deputies were called to Hungry Howies, where another burglary had occurred, and the same Pathfinder was spotted. In a coincidental heist, Wayback Burgers too disclosed to deputies a theft, with surveillance footage showing two men lifting aluminum chairs to their vehicle.

These incidents culminated in the revelation of evidence that linked the crimes directly to the suspects in question. It was discovered that a piece of property, specifically a refrigeration unit slab from Hungry Howie's, was unceremoniously found at Pierson's residence. Their law-breaking spree came to an end with their arrests, putting a stop to a wave of criminal activity that had impacted local businesses.

Pierson sits under the weight of multiple charges, including Burglary of an Unoccupied Structure, Felony Petit Theft, and Dealing in Stolen Property, among others. Gray faces charges of Grand Theft Third Degree and Dealing in Stolen Property, with each accusation contributing to a broader narrative of the duo's alleged disregard for the law, property rights and the economic vitality of their own community.

As this legal drama unfolds, Lithia's business owners can breathe easier knowing that the perpetrators of these crimes are no longer at large.
