In West Roxbury last Thursday, Boston's police officers and senior residents gathered for a "Coffee with a Cop" event at the Boston Lodge of ELKS, courtesy of District E-5's Community Service Office and organized by ETHOS. The initiative was designed to be a mixer of sorts, where elders could engage directly with the local law enforcement over coffee and light refreshments. The session aimed to foster a greater understanding and rapport between the two groups.
The event saw members of the senior community stepping out to candidly share their concerns and to simply chat with the officers over a cup of joe. The turnout underscored a commitment to not just casually and newly interact, but to deeply root themselves into a dialogue with the Boston Police Department (BPD) who are daily woven into the tapestry of their community lives.
According to the BPD's official website, the gathering was punctuated by the presence of Copper, BPD’s comfort dog, who added a touch of warmth to the proceedings.
