The Los Angeles County Commission for Women is now accepting applications for their Resilience Scholarship Program, targeting women and girls in the county who have shown remarkable perseverance and tenacity amidst difficulties.

Launched in the spirit of Women's History Month, the scholarship aims to provide educational and professional support for the young leaders of tomorrow. These individuals whom Edward Yen, the Executive Officer for the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, insists are pivotal to the ongoing transformation and redefinition of communal landscapes, according to an official announcement.

Now in its 26th iteration, the Resilience Scholarship Program continues to be a testament to the commission’s long-standing commitment to fostering educational and economic opportunities for women and girls facing adversity. "We are thrilled to offer this scholarship program to support the resilience and determination of women and girls in Los Angeles County," Dr. Regina Smith, President of the Los Angeles County Commission for Women, expressed in a statement.

Eligible scholarship candidates, who must reside in Los Angeles and have plans to enroll or are currently enrolled in a university, community college, or certification program will be reviewed by a selection committee which will then distribute awards to those deemed deserving, a process that aims to alleviate the financial stress of tuition, fees and educational materials.

The application window for this year's Resilience Scholarship Program remains open until March 28, 2025, and details regarding eligibility requirements and the application process can be found on the commission's webpage.
