A fatality reported near Long Beach Avenue and Vernon Avenue is not an isolated event along this stretch of track. In April, LAFD paramedics pronounced a pedestrian deceased after an A Line train strike on the 4300 block of South Long Beach Avenue near East Vernon Avenue, as Hoodline reported in its piece on the South LA rail tragedy. Then in June, Omar Gonzalez was identified as the pedestrian fatally struck by a train on the 500 block of East Palmdale Boulevard.
The April incident was reported near East Vernon Avenue, while the June incident was reported on the 500 block of East Palmdale Boulevard.
