Firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department successfully extinguished a blaze at a Granada Hills commercial strip mall on Friday evening. The fire broke out at a location on 11144 N Balboa Bl. Upon arrival, the first responders engaged in an offensive attack to contain the fire within one unit, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the structure. According to the LAFD alert, there were no injuries reported at the time of their intervention.
It took the combined effort of 32 firefighters less than half an hour to declare a knockdown of the fire. Despite the potential for the flames to extend to the attic or neighboring units, their swift actions ensured containment, "The first arriving 32 firefighters extinguished the fire in 22 minutes with no injuries reported," as per a follow-up LAFD alert. The teamwork displayed by these firefighters prevented what could have potentially been, a more devastating incident.
The fire's cause presently remains unknown; an investigation is underway to determine its origin. The personnel included various units such as E18, E273, E275, and many others along with battalion chiefs that coordinated the emergency response. Access to the area was likely restricted to ensure public safety and enable the firefighters to do their essential work unimpeded by onlookers or traffic.
