
Early this morning, a fire broke out in a two-story apartment building located at 198 S Commonwealth Ave in the Westlake neighborhood. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), smoke was visible upon their arrival at the scene, where firefighters were dispatched at approximately 12:10 AM.
The fire was successfully extinguished within 39 minutes through the concerted efforts of roughly 90 firefighters, as per the LAFD. Crews remained on-site to perform overhaul operations to prevent any potential re-ignition of the fire. Utility companies and the Department of Building and Safety were called to the scene to assist with the aftermath and to evaluate the integrity of the affected building.
