Firefighters in Los Angeles' Westlake District were quick to respond to a fire on Sunday evening at an apartment building located at 687 S. Carondelet Street. The blaze, which was reported at approximately 6:30 p.m., elicited a rapid onslaught of emergency personnel. According to a statement from the Los Angeles Fire Department, crews arrived to find "heavy smoke showing from the 2nd floor and attic" of the two-story structure.
The Department's efficiency was notable, as they managed to extinguish the flames in roughly 25 minutes with the help of 74 firefighters. Despite the severity of the fire, the LAFD ensured that it did not spread to an adjacent building, which was initially at risk. This outcome was highlighted in an article by CBS News, which reported that no injuries were encountered in the incident.
Investigators have begun probing into the cause of the fire. The building was apparently unoccupied at the time the fire took place. This detail may influence the investigation as they dig into the inciting factors of the blaze.
