Residents and commuters in Medford should prepare for a series of lane and sidewalk closures that are set to begin this week and continue through mid-March as local utility companies embark on various infrastructure projects. According to a recent announcement on the City of Medford's official website, the disruptions are scheduled for different locations across the city, affecting traffic flow and pedestrian access.
The first of these interruptions will commence on Monday, with C2 Utilities installing new fiber communications lines for Luman on Stewart Avenue between Orchard Home Drive and South Oakdale Avenue. Travelers can expect to consistently see alternating lane and sidewalk closures until March 17th. Work hours are slotted between 8 am and 5 pm, making it advisable for drivers and pedestrians alike to allow extra time or alternatively plan to avoid the area during these periods.
The City of Medford's notification also indicates closures on West Main Street, from Quince to Hamilton, where Avista Utilities will be repairing a damaged gas line for a commercial customer from March 3-14, during the same 8 am to 5 pm timeframe. Conversely, East Main Street will experience similar disruptions as a damaged gas line is removed, with the project spanning the same dates and times.
Adding to the infrastructural ballet, Pacific Power is set to replace two damaged power poles on Sunrise Avenue from Oregon Avenue to Harrison Avenue. The necessary alternating lane closures will occur March 3-7, with flaggers in place to manage traffic flow. Such closures will not only affect the immediate areas but potentially ripple throughout the neighboring streets, as Capitol Avenue and Spring Street also see Pacific Power replacing damaged power poles on concurrent schedules.
Lastly, Delta Waters Road will undergo a shift in the westbound lane from Springbrook Road to Tahitian Avenue while Silas Durham Construction LLC repairs a damaged driveway approach for a residential customer. The project timeline aligns with other utility works, set for March 3-14, with the usual work hours of 8 am-5 pm.
