According to the NWS Memphis, today can expect a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, primarily before 1 pm, with conditions clearing up to become mostly sunny and highs nearing 81 degrees. Winds will be blowing from the south at 10 to 15 mph, with gusts potentially reaching 25 mph. The update, last issued at 5:54 am CDT, also points to an overcast morning with 91% humidity and a dew point of 64°F.
As the day progresses into tonight, there's an 80% chance of precipitation, leading into potential showers and thunderstorms before 4 am. The NWS forecasts some of these storms may be severe, with new rainfall amounts between half and three-quarters of an inch possible. Once the storms have moved through, Monday will gradually clear up, becoming sunny with a high near 65 and a north wind around 10 mph.
The week continues with a forecast of mostly clear skies on Monday night, a sunny Tuesday with highs around 73, and increasing clouds on Tuesday night. Precipitation chances edge back into the picture with a 20 percent chance of showers after 1 am Tuesday. Expect gusty winds that could reach as high as 30 mph as the southeast wind picks up to 10 to 15 mph.
Midweek brings more changes, with Wednesday looking to be windy and wet. The NWS predicts an 80% chance of showers and thunderstorms, with some storms potentially leading to heavy rainfall. Winds from the south are expected to be particularly strong, peaking at 20 to 25 mph, and gusts possibly bursting up to 40 mph. The latter half of the week will similarly confront showers and thunderstorms, with high temperatures staying in the mid to high 70s, and chances of precipitation holding steadily around 70 to 80 percent.
