Last evening in southwest Memphis, chaos unfolded when a man attempted to flee from police, ending in a crash that caused significant damage to a home. According to WREG, officers tried to stop a gray Infiniti G37 at S. Third and Tonto Drive around 8:21 p.m. The driver, later identified as 33-year-old Keon McShane, ignored the officers' commands and fled.

Action News 5 reports that while officers chose not to engage in a pursuit, they soon heard a loud crash. The Infiniti had struck a parked vehicle before crashing into a residence on Ford Road, causing an estimated $10,000 in damages.

Upon McShane's arrest, police found a firearm on the vehicle's floorboard. McShane, who did not have a valid driver's license, faces charges including reckless driving, evading arrest, financial responsibility, two counts of vandalism, and possession of a handgun as a convicted felon. Action News 5 also reported McShane’s previous felony conviction.

In an interview with WREG, a local community activist expressed frustration, saying, "They run from the police. They, you know, put other people’s lives in danger and quite frankly, mane people in the neighborhood is just sick of it." WREG also reported that the damages caused by McShane's actions were estimated to exceed $30,000.

McShane's bond has not yet been set, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning. His criminal history includes a 2014 felony arrest for evading and eluding with a motor vehicle and a felony drug charge in Texas.
