Spring has officially sprung, and Mesquite is ready to celebrate with its annual Bunny EGGstravaganza. This family-friendly affair will unfold on Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Evans Recreation Center, located at 1116 Hillcrest St. Thanks to sponsorship from Zipline International, this event is the perfect basket filler for those looking to hop into the festivity for free, as per the City of Mesquite website.
Youngsters up to age nine will have the chance to fiercely scramble for colorful, candy-filled eggs not once but twice, with hunts at 10 a.m. and again at noon. Groups will be sorted by age – infants to 2, 3-5, and 6-9 years old, allowing even the tiniest of participants, with a parent's hand, to join the quest for Easter treasures.
It's not all about the eggs, though. Other attractions promise to paint smiles as wide as those on the faces of the Easter Bunny, whom children can meet for free photos. Add a mix of face painting and arts and crafts to the day's canvas, and spring colors truly come to life. But activities extend beyond the creative, with the Choo Choo Express Train, bounce houses, Skee-Ball, and a smattering of outdoor games all set to entertain families and friends alike.
For those early birds or anyone looking to fuel their Easter adventure, Whataburger of Mesquite will dish out free breakfast taquitos. At the same time, Starbucks will offer complimentary hot coffee to ensure no one goes hungry or uncaffeinated while supplies last.
