A tragic accident occurred on March 15 in Tuscola County, resulting in the death of a 34-year-old motorcyclist who collided with a vehicle while riding his motorcycle. According to WNEM, Michigan State Police responded to the scene of the crash on Sanilac Road, near Froede Road, in Dayton Township at approximately 8:40 p.m. The initial investigation suggested the motorcyclist, a Kingston man, was eastbound when his 2003 Honda motorcycle crossed the center line into the path of a westbound 2020 Ford Fusion.
The collision with the Ford Fusion, driven by a 50-year-old Sandusky woman, resulted in fatal injuries for the Kingston man, as "he crossed the center line into oncoming traffic," according to the Michigan State Police. The woman involved in the accident was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital and was later released. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this incident.
Following the accident, support and investigation at the scene were conducted by multiple agencies, including the MSP Traffic Reconstruction Unit, MMR, Mayville Ambulance, Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office, Kingston Fire Department, Kingston Police Department, and Caro Police Department. Details of their involvement and the traffic disruption caused by the incident were not disclosed.
The social media post from the MSP Third District, which provided further clarity on the accident, indicated that the fatal traffic crash occurred in the morning at about 8:40 AM, not in the evening as previously reported, "in Dayton Twp, Tuscola County." The post confirmed the vehicle types and direction of travel, while also noting that "alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash."
