In a recent social media operation, the Murrieta Police Department took a decidedly Gen Z approach to reporting an arrest. Taking to Instagram, the department used a string of trendy hashtags to describe the capture and subsequent drug bust of a wanted felon. The arrest, which took place a few weeks ago, was given a narrative twist on Instagram, but the actual date of the event was not disclosed by the authorities.

The situation unfolded when a member of the so-called “A Nights” crew observed the suspect's vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. Describing the suspect's decision to flee, the KTLA's report included the playful barb: "#thatwasnotagoodidea." It turns out the suspect was heading home and, upon arrival, made a dash from his vehicle into his garage. There, Corporal Meadows, after a foot pursuit, apprehended him, the police documented the arrest with the hashtag “#goteem”.

Once in custody, officers quickly discovered that the suspect, facetiously dubbed “#warrantboi” on the department's Instagram page, had been less than discreet with his illicit inventory. A search of the vehicle revealed visible drugs, prompting an investigation of the suspect's residence. The search yielded a substantial cache of narcotics, including over a pound of cocaine, MDMA, methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, Xanax pills, hash, Adderall, a veritable stash of marijuana, ammunition, and more. The discovery was detailed with a mix of sarcastic hashtags like “#scarfacemuch” that pointed to the volume of drugs being well beyond personal use.

In addition to the warrant for the suspect's arrest, new charges were added, including felony narcotic sales and driving under the influence. The Instagram post concluded on an almost hopeful note that "#warrantboi" would attend his next court date. He was booked into jail that night following the discovery and charges, the police stated, with an inventory of seized items that read like a drug emporium's inventory list, complete with “#fullbingocard” of illicit substances.
