With the flip of a shovel, local leaders and community members in St. Johns County marked a new chapter in public safety—the construction kick-off for Fire Station 21 and an attached Sheriff’s Office in Flagler Estates. The dual-purpose facility, totaling 6,036 square feet, promises to furnish first responders with the resources they need for rapid and effective emergency services.
The long-anticipated project, carrying a price tag of $3.8 million, will include one and a half apparatus bays and accommodate four full-time personnel, and this reflects an essential infrastructural investment for the predominantly rural area, which has long endured extended response times due to its remote character, now with this promised station, the tides of delay and distance are set to turn.
