A man was admitted to a local hospital with a gunshot wound yesterday evening in Long Beach. According to the Long Beach Police Department blotter, the shooting was reported around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday in the area of Atlantic Avenue and Market Street. The LBPD indicated that officers were dispatched following the victim's self-arrival at the hospital. He was treated for a non-life-threatening injury to his lower body.
The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, recounted hearing noises before realizing he was wounded. He was able to seek medical assistance on his own accord by transporting himself to the hospital, according to the police. Officers responding to the call searched the specified vicinity for evidence or a crime scene; however, the whereabouts of the perpetrator, along with their motives, remain unknown.
The LBPD has urged anyone with information about the shooting on Atlantic Avenue and Market Street to come forward and assist in their investigation.
