The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed five tornadoes from Sunday's severe storms in Western Pennsylvania. According to WTAE, the latest tornado was identified near Haddenville, Fayette County, and exhibited damage indicative of an EF-1 tornado, a classification that suggests wind speeds ranging from 86 to 110 mph.
Details of the findings are expected to be released later, with the NWS survey teams continuing their assessments across the storm-affected areas. Among the tornadoes confirmed earlier, three spun up in Westmoreland County, while the fourth manifested in Indiana County, detailed by a WPXI report. The tornado near Donegal, one of those in Westmoreland County, touched down with estimated wind speeds of 100-105 mph, a significant force capable of causing serious damage.
Further elaboration on the surveyed damage was provided by Audacy, who noted that the storms generated multiple tornadoes and resulted in widespread power outages and structural damages in several communities, including Connellsville, New Kensington, and Fairchance. The violent whirl of weather toppled electricity for thousands, leaving the communities grappling with the immediate aftermath.
