
A tragic incident occurred on Thursday morning when a vehicle slammed into C&H Laundry in Statesville, leading to a fire that ultimately claimed the life of one individual. WSOC-TV reported that the crash happened at around 10:20 a.m. on the 1400 block of Shelton Avenue, with the fire ripping through the building's roof soon after.
Despite the severity of the incident, officials stated that no one inside the laundromat was injured. However, efforts to quickly clear the area were put into motion by emergency crews, who asked the public to avoid the vicinity while they worked. This information was brought to the public's attention through a WBTV report.
The situation took a somber turn as WCNC confirmed that one person was discovered deceased within the crashed vehicle. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames promptly, yet the unexpected death underscored the gravity of the event. The identity of the deceased has not been made public as of yet.
In the wake of the collision and subsequent blaze, a joint investigation by fire and police departments is currently underway. Officials are urging anyone with knowledge of the crash to come forward.
