In a recent Tennessee Department of Education announcement, Oneida Elementary School's third-grade teacher, Stephanie Boshears, has been honored with the prestigious Milken Educator Award. Recognized as one of the top honors a teacher can receive, the Milken Award has been referred to as the "Oscars of Teaching" by Teacher Magazine. With her commitment to student success in East Tennessee, Boshears steps into a role model's shoes for educators nationwide.
Commissioner Lizzette Reynolds highlighted the critical role that early-grade educators play in shaping students’ educational journeys. "Early grade educators have an instrumental impact on student’s growth as they teach foundational skills that will guide students to long-term success, and third grade teacher Mrs. Boshears is a remarkable example of this,” the Tennessee Department of Education reported. The award, which was established in 1987 to celebrate and motivate education professionals, comes with an unrestricted $25,000 prize.

These initiatives are not confined to her immediate environs but ripple across the district. Through such dedication, her influence over students and her fellow teachers' pedagogical approaches reaches profound depth.
Jeanny Phillips, Director of Schools at Oneida Special School District, conveyed the district’s pride in Boshears' achievement.
