An Orange County elementary school teacher, identified as Christopher Crisona, 57, was taken into custody at Andover Elementary School on Monday morning. He faces charges brought forth by an outstanding warrant from Delaware for second-degree unlawful sexual contact, as reported by ClickOrlando.
The arrest occurred without incident around 9:50 a.m., and Crisona was subsequently booked into the Orange County Corrections Center. He is currently being held without bond, WESH reported.
Local school authorities responded to the incident by placing Crisona on administrative leave during the investigation. "While the district does not comment on employee matters, a teacher at Andover Elementary School was arrested due to a personal matter unrelated to the campus. The individual will not be returning to school while there is an open investigation," an Orange County Public Schools representative stated. This was echoed by Andover Elementary’s principal in a call to families, reassuring them of the school's commitment to student and staff safety, as detailed by ClickOrlando.
Record custodians in New Castle County confirmed details on the eight counts Crisona faces in Delaware. Unlawful sexual contact, in this context, involves sexual conduct with a person under 18 years of age. Channel 9, in addition to other details about the case, sought "nonpublic" court documents, as reported by WFTV.
Crisona has been employed by Orange County Public Schools since August 2008, with teaching assignments at various institutions, including Columbia Elementary, Sadler Elementary, Fern Creek Elementary, Stone Lakes Elementary Avalon Middle, and Wedgefield K-8, before his most recent post at Andover Elementary. Parents of students at Andover Elementary were informed about the arrest through a message from the school district on Monday.
