Residents of Oregon affected by the February storm have been granted an extension for reporting food losses and requesting SNAP replacement benefits. The original 10-day deadline set by the U.S Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) has been extended to a 30-day window, as per the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS).
The approval from the FNS now allows households in certain counties to report their food losses until March 26, 2025. This extension aims to accommodate individuals who've been grappling with the aftermath of the storm and ensure they have ample time to fulfill the requirements for assistance. Those residing in Benton, Clackamas, Clatsop, and several other approved counties will be affected by the new deadline. However, for those outside these designated areas the standard 10-day rule for reporting losses is still in effect.
To request SNAP replacement benefits, eligible individuals can reach out through several methods. They can make phone calls to 1-800-699-9075 or use TTY at 711 for those with hearing difficulties. The option for in-person requests is also available at local offices, particulars of which can be found on the ODHS website. Alternatively, requests may be sent by email to [email protected] or via mail, ensuring it is received by March 26, 2025, at ONE Customer Service Center, PO Box 14015, Salem, OR 97309. Lastly, the ONE online portal presents another avenue for submitting requests.
This expanded relief window will close on the specified date of March 26, thereafter, the process reverts to its original 10-day time frame for replacement requests. As a reminder, SNAP is a program designed to help low-income households in purchasing food. Those requiring more information or assistance with the replacement benefits process are encouraged to get in touch with their local office, visit the Oregon SNAP benefit website or contact their helpline at 800-699-9075.
