A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday evening in Oxnard when a Metrolink train collided with a big rig, resulting in serious injury to an Oxnard food vendor. According to CBS Los Angeles, the collision happened at approximately 7:15 p.m. near the intersection of Rice Avenue and Fifth Street.

As confirmed by the Oxnard Police Department, the semi-truck was stopped on the tracks as the train, carrying 13 passengers and approaching from the west, struck the trailer. In the process of the collision, debris was hurled in several directions, hitting a nearby taco stand where the woman was working. While driving south on Rice Avenue, the big rig failed to clear the train's path, leading to the crash.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released, sustained critical head injuries. According to the FOX 11 report, she was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.

While the big rig's driver was unharmed, several passengers experienced distress following the accident. One was hospitalized with neck pain, although details regarding this individual's condition are still forthcoming. Paramedics triaged the passengers, and among those, three were treated and released at the scene.

The Oxnard Police Department believes that alcohol was not a factor in the incident. A news release from the department urged anyone with information about the collision to reach out to Traffic Coordinator Corporal Manuel Perez.
