After a rigorous investigation spanning almost two years, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office issued an arrest warrant for 22-year-old Levi Ayers of Palatka concerning a vehicle burglary spree in April 2022. According to FOX 35 Orlando, Ayers was linked to the crimes through DNA evidence recovered at one of the burglary scenes. He is the second individual to be implicated in this case after the earlier arrest of De’Omonte Baker.
Ayers is charged with a series of vehicle burglaries that occurred between April 24 and April 30 of that year, which included the theft of a car and several break-ins. The Flagler Sheriff's Office's General Assignment Unit was first called to investigate multiple vehicle break-ins in Palm Coast. As they tracked stolen credit cards used in Putnam County, they identified a suspect vehicle and traced it to a then-19-year-old Baker from Hastings, per a Flagler County Sheriff's Office report.
Baker was quickly arrested on May 4, 2022, and charged with several crimes, including burglary and theft of a firearm. As the investigation continued, a latex glove found in the stolen vehicle led police to Ayers as a second suspect. The glove was sent to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for DNA testing, which confirmed Ayers' involvement in the crimes.
Ayers was arrested on February 11 and is currently in custody at the Putnam County Jail. Following the resolution of his case there, he will be transferred to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility to face further charges in Flagler County.
