A Palm Coast residence was engulfed in flames early Friday, leading to the tragic deaths of four pets and the hospitalization of a resident. The ClickOrlando reported that firefighters responded to a call at 1:03 a.m. in the Matanzas Woods subdivision, where they encountered a house fire with heavy smoke billowing from the rear.

The Palm Coast Fire Department, providing details of the fire via a social media post, indicated that all home occupants were accounted for and informed the fire crew that the blaze originated on the pool deck at the back of the house. Trying to rescue their pets, the thick black smoke was already consuming their home, and the residents suffered significant smoke inhalation.

This incident prompted transportation to the hospital for the affected resident, who is reportedly in stable condition following the event. As reported by ClickOrlando, officials have confirmed that the home had fire and extensive smoke emanating from its rear, which had spread into the attic of the structure by the time fire crews arrived on the scene.

The Palm Coast Fire Department has contacted the Red Cross to assist the affected family, and the State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

A variety of units, including Battalion 24, Engine 23, Engine 21, Engine 22, Tower 24, and Fire Police from the Palm Coast Fire Department were summoned to the scene, alongside Flagler County Fire Rescue's Rescue 21, Rescue 24, and Battalion 40, to combat the blaze and ensure public safety.
