Over the weekend, a small aircraft was reported to have gone down near Byron, close to Brentwood, but, fortunately, without causing injury to anyone onboard. The incident, which involved only two passengers, took place near Byron Airport, and the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District was quick to respond. As noted in a social media post from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, the incident happened at the intersection of Camino Diablo and Vasco Road. Luckily, no fire was reported, and the occupants could exit the aircraft without assistance.

The brief but alarming event unfolded as the plane, for unknown reasons, made an unscheduled landing in what appeared to be a vineyard. While the vineyard created a less-than-ideal landing strip, it may have also helped to cushion the plane's descent, contributing to the lack of injuries. "Looked like it landed, possibly, in a vineyard," Joe Ottolini, fire prevention captain, told the SF Chronicle in an interview.
Contra Costa fire officials received the call around noon and were at the scene promptly to secure the area and ensure the safety of the passengers and others nearby.
