The Peoria Police Real Time Crime Center officially opened. Located along Lake Pleasant Parkway, just south of Pinnacle Peak Road, the Real Time Crime Center will provide real-time data and analytics to support police efforts in addressing local crime, according to the City of Peoria.
Mayor Jason Beck emphasized the center's potential, stating, "This technology will help our officers make smarter, faster decisions when it matters most." He also noted that the technology would allow officers to observe dangerous situations as they happen, helping first responders prevent violence from escalating and resolve the situation more quickly, as reported by the City of Peoria.
The Real Time Crime Center is a central hub that uses technology and data to monitor high-crime areas, criminal incidents, and large public events. It helps improve response times and crime prevention. Police Chief Thomas Intrieri said, "Through cutting-edge technology, data integration, and collaboration, the RTCC will help us deter crime before it happens and solve cases more efficiently when it does." The Real Time Crime Center has already assisted in capturing a shoplifting suspect with aerial support and identifying a man accused of stealing a catalytic converter using camera systems. The project was funded by an agreement between the Peoria City Council and the Arizona Department of Public Safety, with DPS contributing $2.6 million, as stated by the City of Peoria.
