April in Philadelphia marks Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), with the theme "Together We Act, United We Change." The city's Office of Domestic Violence Strategies and community partners are organizing events to raise awareness and prevent sexual violence, harassment, and abuse, as per the City of Philadelphia.
The month begins with the SAAM Day of Action & Teal Day on Tuesday next week, where participants are encouraged to wear teal and share selfies with the hashtag #SAAM2025. Other events include a Sexual Assault Month Resolution at City Hall, a free community conference on child sexual abuse on Thursday next week, and a virtual Shared Safety Lunch & Learn on human trafficking on April 9. On April 12, the Survivors Speak Healing Vigil will provide a platform for survivor storytelling and calls for safety-focused solutions.
Philadelphia will also host the 15th annual Take Back the Night march on April 24 at the First Unitarian Church, a space for those affected to come together. The month's activities will conclude with the PMF Denim Day Event on April 27 and Annual Denim Day on April 30, emphasizing that attire does not imply consent.
